SALSA MLPA KIT P230 Telomere-7
[http://www.geneclinics.org/profiles/hht/details.html]
This P230 Human telomere-7 probemix can be used to confirm and further validate the detection of abnormalities detected by the P036B and P069 / P070 subtelomeric probemixes. The P230 probemix contains: 12 probes in the terminal 5.1 Mb of chromosome arm 9p. 11 probes in the terminal 3.8 Mb of chromosome arm 10p. 7 probes in the terminal 6.4 Mb of chromosome arm 11p. 11 probes in the terminal 7.2 Mb of chromosome arm 12p. The SALSA P036B and P069 / P070 probemixes each contain one MLPA probe for each subtelomeric region. Most of the probes included in these probemixes detect a well-characterised gene near the telomere. The P069 probemix is very similar to the P070 probemix, but has no probes for the acrocentric chromosome arms 13p, 14p, 15p, 21p and 22p. Probes in P036B and P069/P070 differ, however, allowing results obtained with one kit to be confirmed by the other. Chromosome arm 1p36 can be analysed in more detail with the P147 MLPA kit for 1p36. Chromosome arms 2p, 3p, 6p and 8p can be analysed in more detail with the P208 telomere-7 probemix. Chromosome arms 4p and 5p can be analysed in more detail with the P096 MR2 probemix. Chromosome arm 22q can be analysed in more detail with the P188 MLPA kit for 22q13. Probemixes for the ends of other chromosome arms will follow in 2007.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: MLPA kits are sold by MRC-Holland for research purposes and to demonstrate the possibilities of the MLPA technique. This kit is not CE/FDA certified for use in diagnostic procedures. Salsa MLPA kits are supplied with all necessary buffers and enzymes. Purchase of the Salsa MLPA test kits includes a limited license to use these products for research purposes. The use of this MLPA kit requires a thermocycler with heated lid and sequence type electrophoresis equipment. Different fluorescent PCR primers are available. The MLPA technique has been first described in Nucleic Acid Research 30, e57 (2002)
